Who is Tarot Professionals?

Tarot Professionals was founded in 2008 by Marcus Katz, M.A., M.B.A., PhD Candidate (Western Esotericism, University of Exeter). He has been studying, reading and teaching Tarot for 30 years. His first Tarot book, Tarosophy, will be published in Summer 2010.

We have a global membership ranging from total newcomers to Tarot - who gain our flagship "Courtyard Course" lessons and video lessons - to the world's leading authors and teachers. Our aim is to support your Tarot interest and enthusiasm with our own playful but professional experience.

What is the Tarot?

The Tarot is more often than not a deck of 78 cards with images and titles, divided usually into four suits, and three groups of cards, the 22 "Major" cards (the commonly recognised 'Death', 'Lovers' etc), the 40 "Minors" and the 16 "Court Cards". There are presently about 1,000 decks in print, and many more have been created over the last 300 years, although there has been a major resurgence in the last 40 years.

The Tarot deck is used as a means of divination, fortune-telling, and self-discovery. It is not seen as being any more good or evil than a book or art galllery. Whilst it is often used in modern media and contemporary culture as signifying something on the "edge of knowledge", most readers find the deck to be a constantly unfolding journey of discovery.

A Tarot reading can assist you clarify your life, past and present, and make better maps of the future. A good reading will significantly change your life for the better.
